L'Opera Lavishness.

Today, for the second time after over an year, I visited the L'Opera and yet again the experience was delightful. L'Opera Patisserie and Boulangerie sits in the Khan Market, New Delhi, and can boast of bringing authentic and high-end French pastries to India. My friend and me decided to gorge on their Opera Pastry and the Mille Feuille Pastry.

Opera Pastry

Layers of Opera Pastry

The luxurious looking Opera Pastry is made of layers of almond sponge cake. It is soaked in coffee syrup, layered with ganache and coffee butter cream and covered in a chocolate glaze. It is made absolutely rich with coffee and chocolate filling and icing and is a pastry worth experiencing! If my palate could be relied on, it will go perfectly well with a cup of strong coffee.

 Mille Feuille
Layers of Mille Feuille. Note the alternating layers of puff pastry, and pastry cream.

The Mille Feuille is another sinful delight! It is made of three layers of puff pastry alternating with two layers of pastry cream. The top layer is made of a crisp wafer, and glazed with chocolate and coffee icing. Perfect for a pleasure lover!

However the bakery is exorbitantly expensive! The Opera costed us Rs. 180 while the Mille Feuille costed us Rs. 205. The only justifiable reasons for such high prices is that their collection is authentic, and of a top notch quality.

The Bill

My friends who have visited the bakery suggest that their Almond Croissant and Macaroons are a must-have. One can either choose to find a corner in the tiny shop, or take the goodness home. Anyone who is on a lookout for a perfect bakery, with no price constraints, L'Opera is the place.
